Where the heck did my summer go?? I had visions of going to the boardwalk, daytrips, walking to the beach everyday, icecream adventures, bbq’s, waterballoons, and using the fire pit.
I wasted my summer. It’s slipping slowly away into fall. Denim jackets and jeans and my zebra scarf. And socks. Lots of novelty non-knitted socks. Sigh.
I feel like a blob. Like a jellyfish that washes up on the shore. Glistening, and melty. You can’t help but want to poke it with a stick to see what happens. Nothing happens. No oozing, no blood, no wiggling. Odd.

It was such a beautiful day. Breezy and sunny and blue. I watched it go by from the window. Tomorrow if it doesn’t rain, I will make myself get up early, clean off the stroller and go for a walk. Unless I have a pancake and smoothie breakfast because if that comes true I won’t be able to walk until lunch.

Holy Sh*t. I just wound 465yds of yarn into a ball. That’s like 3 football fields. WAHT?!
Let me clarify, I should say re-wound it into a ball that wouldn’t tangle. I think I feel a song coming on…
“Oh, we’ve got big balls
We’ve got big balls
We’ve got big balls
Dirty big balls
He’s got big balls
She’s got big balls
But we’ve got the biggest balls of them all”
I’m not a professional, so my ball winding technique doesn’t even exist. I don’t even know if there is a correct way or not. All I know is that I’m living with a ball of yarn bigger than a baby’s head..

I like old school patterns that used people names instead of cardigan # 35. I am going to attempt to knit my first sweater for a non-baby.
Of course being who I am, I picked something that’s over 30 years old so if I need help w/ it or if there were any typos I’m screwed. For this project I just might be tempted to do a gauge swatch though.
I mean I just spent 60 smackaroonies it’s the least I can do.

It will be my first time knitting w/ real life wool, too. I know, it’s soo hardcore.

It’s been months, months, since I’ve felt like walking to the beach. Prego, then new baby, then just plain worn out.

It was completely worth it. The water is too dirty and filled with jellyfish and the like, but it’s still nice to be able to walk to it. Sigh, the Jersey coast.

I’m back. Who needs a T-strap maryjane? Everyone does! That’s what I’m working on now. I had to resize it because my 3mo daughter has a foot that should be on a 9mo.

I need to work on the stitch design as well.

I think I desperately need glasses, or I should clean the peanut butter off the camera lenses. ( maybe a little of both )

As if I don’t have enough to do, I thought I might try to make some bobbles. They’re like yarn nipples. Quite fun.

Here’s what I’ve been doing, besides putting off writing in my online journal.
I completed a simple knitted baby sweater. I got the pattern here. Simple enough. I need to practice sewing seams. They came out rather sloppy.

THEN..
I am trying to knit some socks on double pointed needles. This feels weird and icky, and by the time I have gotten the hang of knitting around, it’s time to start over.

hmpt.
Last but not least..
My newest project. A baby boat neck sweater. The yarn looked like it was going to be cute, but as I’m working on it, it looks very pastelly. Is that even a word? Easterish? I don’t know what’s going to happen. Maybe I’ll throw in some stripes or something. (if I even knew how to do that!!).

Happy Safe New Year!

I finally finished the Steve Zissou hat for my lovie.

And here’s me in it because I couldn’t resist trying on the completed hat.

I’ll be working on baby things. I’ve got babies on the brain.
